•All entries are due the last Friday before Spring Break to the Elementary Librarian. •Material must be original, and each
student may submit only one entry. •DO NOT put your name on your pages, but write your library number on each page. Your name will be on your entry form. •Submit the original of your manuscript with an entry form attached. Keep a copy of your manuscript. Submissions will not be returned. •Entries may be NO LONGER THAN 5
pages. •Entries may be hand written or typed. Entries must be double-spaced on 8.5” by 11” paper. Staple the pages together at the upper left-hand corner. Write or type on one side of each paper. •Your entry will be evaluated on your creative writing skills. Students are encouraged to use the following Washington State Essential Learnings for writing as a guide: 1. develop concept and design 2. use appropriate style for the student’s writing purpose 3. apply writing conventions 4. use the steps of the writing process: prewrite, draft, revise, edit, publish |
• 1st, 2nd, and 3rd places receive bonds at graduated amounts and t-shirts each.
•Honorable mention students each receive a t-shirt.
•The decisions of the Awards Selection Committee are final and will be announced at a ceremony prior to the end of the school year.
