Welcome, and thank you for visiting Mr. Robeck's class web page!
This web page will be a work in progress. It will include the following:
Weekly class news letter.
1. A weekly (Tuesday) letter from me informing you of upcoming events and what skills we may be working on at that particular time of year. Some homework assignments for the week will be included. All homework is due back the following Friday unless there are circumstances in your family’s schedule or illness that would make this difficult. In addition to any homework I send home, I would hope that your son or daughter will read at least 20 minutes daily for a minimum of five times weekly. Next October, the class will begin the "Book-It" program sponsored by Pizza Hut. This encourages and rewards students for their daily reading activity. My letters will usually include some sort of upbeat, motivating message to encourage students to read and do their homework outside of class time.

Homework:
Homework assignments are given Monday-Thursday. In addition to homework brought home, students are expected to read 20 minutes or more daily. Please encourage your child to record their time reading on their monthly reading calendar. Time you spend reading to your child also counts and is encouraged. This is a great way to spend quality time with your son or daughter and gives you an opportunity to discuss vocabulary, make connections to previous life experiences, and check for understanding.

Dear Parents,
Our owl pellet dissections went very well. Students found the activity challenging and rewarding (particularly with organizing the bones into a two-dimensional skeleton).
Thanks to all of you who supported September’s daily reading and the use of the reading calendar. About half of the calendars have been returned. If you have a green reading calendar still at home, please send it back with your son or daughter. Please encourage daily use of October’s calendar (salmon colored). It just takes twenty minutes to meet the minimum reading requirement, and this includes time that you or an older sibling reads to your third grader.
AmeriCorps is once again assisting in classrooms. We are fortunate to have three volunteers helping with our class at various times throughout the day. They will primarily be helping with reading and math.
Important dates to remember:
Tomorrow, October 8th, is an early release day.
Friday, October 10th, is a Learning Improvement Day (LID) and there is no school on this day.
October 23rd: Tears of Joy theatrical production at 1:15 in the gym.
Best wishes for a very enjoyable week!
Sincerely,
Mr. Robeck
